| Abbeydale Hamlet was not just a place of work. It also contained a number of dwelling places used by the families of people who earned their living at the scythe works.
There is a row of terraced cottages just inside the site entrance. These cottages have small gardens.
The site manager lived in a larger house set in its own garden on the bank of the River Sheaf.
